I have successfully installed Gimp on Mac mini and Macbook Pro running Yosemite ( haven't upgraded for various reasons).. Both using X11 2 3 4 and GIMP 2 6 7, but still no luck on the Desktop iMac it bounces as if it is going to open, and then nothing, unless I then click on the X11 icon in my dock. 3

When the dialog telling me that it is from unidentified developers comes up during the install process, it has an option for making an exception for the current app..
